Bio

Chris Young is a saxophonist, woodwind artist, educator, composer, arranger, and bandleader. An active performer and recording artist, Chris can be heard across the Mid-Atlantic region in a wide variety of musical settings including wedding bands, chamber ensembles, and club dates with singer-songwriter, blues, hip-hop, and neo-soul acts.

Chris has been fortunate to share the stage with many widely recognized performers such as Carl Filipiak, Peter Fraize, Matt Wilson, Drew Gress, Frank Russo, Jeff Reed, Vinnie Ciesielski, Mike Tomaro, and countless others.

As an educator, Chris has taught woodwinds since his teen years, in addition to extensive classroom and ensemble teaching experience within the Mid-Atlantic region. In 2019 Chris was hired at Maryvale Preparatory, where his work included classroom teaching, ensemble directing, music directing for middle/high school theatre productions, and overall performing arts program development. Chris is passionate about sharing his love for music and continues to maintains a busy private lessons studio.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz/Commercial Performance from Towson University. He received his Master of Music degree from Towson University in addition to a Master of Arts degree in Art Administration from Rowan University. Chris has studied under Jason Rigby, Jim McFalls, Dave Ballou, Greg Thompkins, Jeff Lederer and Jeff Antoniuk.
